New technology.
A new Russian manufacturer
has delivered several new tracked vehicles, including these two
drill rigs for trial.
This particular seismic
contract is the first one for the company to use helicopters to
transport equipment, commonly used for exploration in other parts
of the world.
Early indications suggest
that the heliportable method is succesful for the local conditions.

Transport in the tundra.
Winter and summer conditions
differ widely in the tundra. In summer the rains cause the tracks
to become boggy. In winter the ground is frozen, covered with snow.
Both conditions make the tracks inpassable to conventional vehicles,
the safest and most efficient way to travel is with tracked vehicles.
Many of these vehicles
are purchased ex military, but some are purchased new from various
manufacturers.
